28:12 Studios is a small, indie game development and entertainment studio.

AFO Studios

Based out of Huntington West Virginia, AFO is a publisher, video game studio, and parent company to Wicked Owl Games LLC. This network of studios, comprised nationwide, is dedicated to producing and distributing quality digital content. AFO offers to consult for educational programs, contract work, as well as creating marketing material for a wide range of clients. 

Amanda Hudgins

Amanda Hudgins is a game developer, writer and former rugby player. She works predominately in alternative controls and last year watched 599 movies.

Aurora Game Development Club

Aurora Game Development Club was founded in October 2011 at Georgia Southern University by Ron Williams II and Reshaun Owens. The idea was to unite all the students of GSU whom were interested in game development in order to allow them to meet each other and work collaboratively on extracurricular game projects.

Today, Aurora has evolved into a social enterprise that aims to accomplish the same goals on a wider scale. Aurora provides students with the tools, information, and opportunity to acquire cross-discipline communication skills, build a top tier portfolio, and understand how to have a successful career in the game industry.

Collins Career Technical Center

Collins Career Technical Center’s mission is to prepare youth and adults to enter, compete and advance in an ever-changing world of work. They offer a variety of programs including Graphic Design and Networking.

Their Graphic Design program prepares students to succeed at a very high level in whatever art/design program they wish to pursue at a collegiate level after graduating here and moving upwards in their educational pathway. In IT Networking, students do a lot of hands-on work with computers. Students learn how to disassemble and reassemble them and how to work with the software within the computer.

Eastern Kentucky University Gaming Institute

The Eastern Kentucky University Gaming Institute focuses on the design, development, and publication of video games within an academic context. EKU is home to the first bachelor’s degree focusing on game design in the Kentuckey. They currently offer a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Interactive Multimedia and began offering a Minor in Game Content Design Fall 2017. Lasso Games

Lasso Games, LLC is an independent game developer located in Huntington, WV.

Their team is composed of 6 members, each specializing in areas of game design, code composition, visual art, and music. Their goal is to create fun and accessible games that are easy to understand, challenging, have depth of content, and are rich in expression.

The dev team operates primarily from remote locations, but the company as a whole maintains an Appalachian identity and as part of the Huntington, WV community. Lasso Games is also co-founder of Appalachian Game Creators, a non-profit dedicated to community outreach and igniting interest in game development in the Appalachian Region of the USA.

Their development team has been involved in several contract projects for other companies. Projects have included artwork, development/programming, music composition, and story writing. They have built a reputation for excellence, and have become a reliable source for quality contract work for other indie devs in the industry.

Marshall University

Marshall University’s Department of Computer and Information Technology is an accredited program that offers a degree emphasis in Game/Simulation Development. Marshall’s program combines principles of computer application with game development. The connection between application development and game development better serves students of the program aspiring to develop computer, console, and mobile games.

Marshall’s Advanced Gaming and Interactive Computing Lab, also known as the MAGIC Lab is an exciting lab where students utilize the environment to play and analyze different types of interactive media as well as research the latest trends and graphics in the gaming industry. This lab also is a space for students to design and develop their own games.

Paisleys and Portraits

The one thing Julia DeStanfo of Paisleys and Portraits loves more than channeling her imagination, is channeling yours. She already knows what’s in her head, but custom works allow her to feel an even greater sense of accomplishment knowing that her art will connect with people on a whole new level. Julia’s mission is to use her abilities and resources to bring your visions to life.

Julia will be selling some of her amazing artwork and showing off her skills  during the expo with live drawings.

Vandalia Softworks

Vandalia Softworks is a game development and publishing company located in Morgantown, WV.

They have three gaming projects/areas they are working on currently – those include developing forensic game-based learning software for high school and college students, working with small indie game developers in West Virginia to help them market and distribute their games in a crowded gaming industry, and working with Simgines LLC to create affordable racing computer systems for racing enthusiasts and gamers.

Wheeling Jesuit University

Wheeling Jesuit University’s Department of Simulation Technology & Game Design (STGD) provides a secure foundation in simulation and game design for VR/MR/AR production. But the STGD program is much more than earning a bachelor degree, it provides students with Wheeling Jesuit University’s interdisciplinary academic approach while learning how to share compelling stories, ideas and immersive experiences through simulation technology and game design.

A key strength to the STGD program is it gives students the opportunity to come in contact with external clients and work on projects that will have a positive impact on the community as they learn how simulation technology and game design is used in different industry sectors.

Wraith Games is an award-winning independent game studio based in Hamilton, Ohio. They are a diverse team of game developers with a common passion for excellence, love of gaming, and razor-sharp focus on accessibility options for the differently abled. Together, they have set out to make games that force players to challenge themselves, think outside of the box, and most importantly: have fun!
